Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Cell (IEDC)

[Formerly known as BOOTCAMP in Kerala]

      IEDC is an initiative of Kerala Government to transform the youths of the state into successful entrepreneurs. The main objective is to create an   ”entrepreneur” , who has the capacity and willingness to develop, organize and manage a business venture along with any of its risks in order to make a profit." in the state. To promote this the state Government has already sanctioned 3.9 Cr rupees to Kerala Start up Mission and Start up Villages which are the nodal agencies for incubation, guidance and mentoring. The IEDC@ICET was officially registered as a society and was inaugurated by Honourable Chief Minister Sri. Oommen Chandy on October 18th  2014 by unveiling the IEDC (BOOTCAMP) logo. The Boot camp of ICET is headed by Ms. Anju Markose who is the Nodal Officer.

 

The IEDC Philosophy

 

       IEDC helps to open Roads to Entrepreneurship, to find out the Start up of you, to improve the Life Skills and Hacks, to acquire the Financial Literacy and to Master the basics. It basically inculcates personality development through creation and participation. The participation has two angles, one is personal and the other is social. In participating the IEDC activities one can bridge the skill gaps, build their own portfolio and also build their leadership qualities. By developing a feasible and economically viable solution one can bring the cultural change in the society so that the quality of life index can be improved. Through these activities the members are leading to mentorship, community access and high profile interactions. 

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • To promote an innovation driven entrepreneurship culture among students.
  • To develop and promote commercially viable innovative product and solution from students.
  • To promote enterprise among budding technopreneurs and thereby creating more
  • Employment to opportunities. To bridge the gap between industry and Academia.
  • To support the budding Entrepreneurs through Grants and to create an entrepreneurship flavour in academic fraternity.

Frequency of meeting:

Frequency of the meeting will be bimonthly. In addition, meeting of all the members of the cell can be convened, if required.

Salient Activity

IEDC of ICET 2021  has a grant of over 2 lakh rupees in order to fund the programs and events. We have already conducted a vast number of programs which has helped the students to bring out their best in every areas and sectors of innovation. IEDC @ ICET is now actively participating in ALL KERALA IPL 2021 which is short for Innovators Premier League 2021, and has already conducted events like I Talk series as well as Ideathon. We are going to conduct workshops, boot camps and Hackathon in this year itself. IEDC of ICET aims at bringing the students to think and act out of the box, which aims at making them best of the best. Our IEDC @ICET working together to create an entrepreneurship flavour in academic fraternity.

DYUTHI-2K16 is an energy conservation project initiated by Ilahia College of Engineering and Technology with the Paipra Panchayat .This process is mainly focused to create awareness among public to use the LED bulbs to conserve electrical energy. LED bulbs are made by the Bootcamp students of the college and distributed to the public. Hence the aim of Dyuthi 2k16 is to totally convert the Paipra Grama Panchayat to use the LED bulbs.

YIP KICKOFF: IGNITING INNOVATION AND EMPOWERING YOUNG MINDS

 

 

An orientation session on YIP (Young Innovator’s Programme) conducted on 31st March 2023.The resource persons for the event were Sreeni S (Program Executive,K-DISC), Ancy Alex (Zonal Coordinator, MuLearn), and Nasla (District Coordinator,MuLearn).

                                                                

DIGITAL FRONTIERS : AN INTRODUCTION TO METAVERSE & NEXT- GEN TECHNOLOGIES

It was an educational session on the upcoming technologies like NFT,Blockchain,Ethereum.It was conducted on 22nd March 2023.

Mr. Jabir Khan, Mr. Alekh, Mr. Roshan Faizi, and Mr. Mudassil Saleem of the White Shadow Club served as the event's resource people.

They discussed NFTs, blockchain technology, and other cutting-edge innovations that have the potential to upend established sectors and open up new business opportunities.

With more than 200 IEDC ICET members in attendance, the session was a grand success.

WINTERHACK

 

 

The 24hr hackathon was conducted on December 2nd and 3rd.It was a huge success with 120 participants who formed teams and worked on solving real world problems using technology.The hackathon was sponsored by several companies and the winning team received cash prizes worth 200K.The event was inaugurated by Prof.Benny Cherian,Retd.Prof.MACE.

HOW TO HACK A HACKATHON

 

How to Hack a Hackathon was an AMA session held as a precursor to the Hackathon “WinterHack”.The resource person for the event was Adam Oomen Jacob and Hisham Hashir,Make-a-ton 5.0 winners.The event gave an idea to the audience as to how they can participate in Hackathons and win them.It also demystified the idea of Hackathons among the students

MANOGATH 2.0 - PITCHING COMPETITION

 

Manogath 2.0 was an Idea Pitching Competition conducted as part of IPL(Innovator’s Premier League).The competition was conducted on open topic.Ideas were collected and shortlisted before the final pitching.The participants were from different disciplines of colleges under IEDC Kerala.The competition was held on 24th November 2022.Cash prize worth 6K were given to the winners.

                                                                

GAME OF DRONES

 

A two-day hands on workshop on drone making was conducted.The session was handled by the startup company “TELESTO” and was powered by Protocube.The program  was conducted on 29th and 30th of September 2022.The event was a huge success with participants from schools and nearby colleges. Participant Count: 50.

HOW TO PITCH AN IDEA

 "HOW TO PITCH AN IDEA" an interactive talk was conducted on 15th November 2022 and was  handled by our Ideafest 2021 Grant Winner, Dany Roby.

                                                                

MEET WITH ALUMNI

The session was conducted on 16th November 2022 and was handled by the notable aluminis of ICET.

It included Mr.Diljith A K Dev, Mr.Alen Paul and Mr.Muhammed Ashir. The session was very informative

and the speakers were an inspiration for the participants. The event also included ice breaker sessions

and the students enjoyed every bit of it.

 

 

                                   

BUSINESS PLANNING FOR FIRST TIME ENTREPRENEURS

An offline session on the topic:"BUSINESS PLANNING FOR FIRST TIME ENTREPRENEURS" was conducted on 26th July 2022 by IEDC ICET. Session was handled by the speaker Mr. Aneesh P V, CEO Mintmelon Consulting, Ernakulam

IDEATHON

Dany Roby of S3 CSE-A has participated in Ideathon as part of IPL and is selected for getting grants from KSUM in developing his idea. Innovators' Premier League (IPL) was an initiative of the Kerala Startup Mission (KSUM) to bring out the best talents from the Kerala Innovation Hubs. IPL aimed at bringing awareness and sensitization of IEDC & its activities among students, building a competitive & entrepreneurial mindset among innovators, creating a pipeline of startups. During IPL, the students and other talents in the institution competed at the College level, followed by regional level under the 3 major pillars- Innovation, Technology & Entrepreneurship. 

 

 

 

ITALKS

A talk session as a part of IPL on the topic “INNOVATION AND ENTREPRENURSHIP” was presented by Mr Nikhil Kilivayil, Founder of crossroads. The talk session performed by the IEDC community of Ilahia Collage Of Engineering And Technology. Ms. Anju Markose from the department of computer science Engineering, ilahia college of engineering and technology was the chief co-ordinator of the program.

The webinar was on 07.10.2021 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Total attendee for the program was about 90. The session was interactive in nature and was very fruitful. The program run as per the schedule and finished on time. Feedback was taken after the program.

NAVAK HACKATHON

IEDC of Ilahia College of Engineering and Technology conducted NAVAK – HACKATHON , a 24 hours program as part of Innovators Premiere League on 2/12/2021 from 9am to 03/12/2021 9 am. The program was focused on building young innovators by creating solutions for relevant social issues. The team track includes Design, Simulation, Prototype and presentation . There were 15 teams for the event who competed for the program with complete enthusiasm .The program has been judged in 3 levels by internal and external judging panels. Internal judging panels include Asst. Professor Akhil S Prasad, department of Mechanical Engineering, Asst. Professor Rasim Navas MS, department of Civil Engineering,  Asst. Professor Shafan Salam, department of Electronics Engineering. External judges include Dr. Jyothjish K John, Prof and HOD (FISAT), Dr Varghese S   Chooralil (RSET).

The program was a grant success with the active volunteering and coordination of the staff and 20 program committee members.

WORKSHOP ON IOT AND ARDUINO

The IEDC department of Ilahia College of Engineering and Technology conducted a “Workshop on IOT and Arduino “jointly with TECHONE TECHNOLOGIES PVT LTD. It was a 6-day program offered free to college students in order for them to understand the basic concepts on IOT and Arduino. The workshop started on 03/06/2021 and ended on 08/06/2021

The online program was successful with 50 participants and was conducted through Google Meet platform.

The session was very informative and interactive, it helped students to learn more about the topic. The program ended with a feedback session from the participants.
